Formula 1 question
|
I'm no fan of this sport but how does having double points available for the the final race of the year make any sense at all?

It's so boring, a load of blokes in the pit lane looking at laptops, so far removed from what actual motor racing used to be about.
Then when you hear their radio conversations with the drivers it sounds like the average bloke off the street. " Overtake him, you're going quicker than him"

To be fair, everyone and their dog thought double points was an awful idea from the start. The bigger problem was that it was able to be implemented without hardly any consultation.
It'll be gone by next season. Hopefully it won't determine who wins the title this weekend.

It's a desperate attempt to re-ignite a bit of excitement into a 'once great' sport.

If Hamilton loses having won more races I agree that tha doesn't sit right. But that's more a reward for consistency by someone who finishes 2nd every time he doesn't win .... but I would make it something like 50 pts for 1st & 10 for second & 5 for third.

I understood Eccelstone was trying to get the teams to agree to the last 3 (THREE) races next season being double points and couldn't. As a result he has thrown up his hands and gone back to the status quo next season.
Everyone knew the rules and points at the start so whoever wins deserves it. Hopefully it is decided in a way that wouldn't have been reversed without the double points as we will never hear the end of it.

What sxboy said.
Would be a fucking nightmare if Hamilton broke down. That's really the only thing that's going to stop him winning the title as he can just follow Rosberg home for second place and win the title if he wants. There's a horrible nagging feeling that something will go wrong though.... With 10 wins, he's the one who deserves the crown by a mile.
On formula E- really enjoyed this morning's race. Wasn't overly enthused by the first one but it's growning on me. Great job by Sam Bird and gave me a chuckle seening Senna pass Prost. I do hate the minimum time in the pits rule though. I see why they do it, but you should be rewarded for getting in and out more quickly.

If this artificial measure results in Rosberg winning the championship, it will make F1 look really silly.
Ecclestone has already said it won't happen again next year.

After years of being actively involved in F1, I have to say that Im enjoying the Formula E series more than I have enjoyed F1 in years.

In previous years the title has already been decided before the final race. This meant the Eccleston found it harder to extract money from sponsors and advertisers as the race was usually just a dull procession to the podium.
By introducing double points he hoped it would ensure that there was something to fight for in the final race.
Eccleston is a greedy cunt.
